Fishing Report for September

Lake Hartwell is 5 Ft. low Surface Temp is 85 degrees.

Fish have finally gone into their summer pattern. Most fish have left the upper lake for better water quality down lake. Fish are holding in deep water (at least 60 ft. deep). A good graph is important now because you need to find fish by idling until fish are marked. A vavionics chip is also important to look in the creek channels around the lower lake. The chip will show contour lines of the bottom and outline the creek channels. I am catching fish 60 to 100 ft. deep over 80 to 100 ft. bottom depth. Fish blue back herring orajigging spoons at the depth fish are holding. This pattern will last thru September. Always be on the lookout for surface activity. Throw a top water plug, even if they disappear. Be ready to send bait down if you see them on the graph. They don’t stay up long since the water is so hot.
