Hartwell is comprised of nearly 56,000 acres of water with shorelines of 962 miles.
Lake Hartwell is the best lake in the South for stripers and hybrids. Located
between Greenville SC and Atlanta GA, it is on the border of South Carolina and
Georgia, about 1 hour west of Greenville, and 1½ hours east of Atlanta.
Other fish species include largemouth bass, bream, crappie and catfish. Numerous recreation areas, fishing piers, and bank fishing areas provide ample fishing opportunities. Fisheries habitat improvements include the maintenance of deep water and shallow water fish attractors and felling trees into water along the shoreline.
