Fish Active in Shallow Water

Report Date: March 18, 2013

Water temperature is in the low 50s
Water level is 6 feet below full pool

Stripers, hybrids, and bass are all active and feeding in shallow water. The bite has been better in the afternoons as the water warms. The major creeks up the lake are all holding fish. It has been a cold spring so far, but forecasts are for much warmer temp. Early April will be an extension of the March pattern. Throw small Shad imitations close to the bank on the windblown points and pockets.

By mid-April, the morning will be as good as the afternoon. The fish will become more aggressive and eat herring when they see them. They will also eat a larger artificial bait. Also, by mid-April, the main lake will turn on. Pulling free line hearing near main points and shoals early in the morning will get lots of fish.
